South Melbourne Market!

Hi everyone! Over the weekend, a group of friends and I went over to South Melbourne Market to try out some oysters and sea urchin. It was my first time there and I was shocked by the crowd! There was people queuing up in almost every single food stall. We decided to have some hot food before having oysters so I decided to try out a chicken burrito. The burrito was really good but quite messy to eat, I ended up getting it all over me😫. It cost $12 dollars and you can choose between chicken and pork.

After the burrito, we went over to the oyster bar! The oysters and sea urchin looked so fresh!šŸ˜Ā The store served their oysters in trays but you can also get them in singles if you’re not sharing. The oysters cost $1.67 each and I definitely think it was worth the price. I could only eat 3 as I was so full from the burrito. The stall also provided lemon slices, soy sauce and other kind of sauces at their tables for patrons that plan on eating their oysters there! I also tried a little bit of sea urchin for the first time which I quite liked but I am not sure if I love it. The texture was different but it worked with the soy sauce. One of my friend did not like it though so I am guessing it is one of those things where you either hate it or love it?šŸ˜‚Ā The sea urchin cost $8 each. I would suggest trying it out if you have not already.

Let me know if you guys have tried the oysters and sea urchins before and if you haven’t, would you? The next post is going to be on desserts that you can find at South Melbourne Market! So if you’ve got a sweet tooth like me, stay tuned!😚

Brown sugar bubble tea?😻

IMG_3309

Hi everyone! Hope you guys had a great weekend. So yesterday I had an intense craving for bubble tea and decide to try something different than my usual thai milk tea from ShareTea (refer to previous post). I went over to Highpoint Shopping Centre and came across a little stall called the TheAlley LuJiaoXing.Ā They are a little different from your average bubble tea store, this place has tapioca pearls soaked in brown sugar!!šŸ˜Ā I tried one of their recommended drinks which was Brown Sugar Deerioca and Fresh Milk.Ā What drew me to get the drink was the gorgeous gradient effect. šŸ˜Ā The thick brown sugar and pearls at the bottom of the cup with the fresh milk, the drink looked too good to consume! The regular size costĀ $6.60.

Although the drink looked so gorgeous and the pearls tasted amazing, I did not enjoy the drink that much. It was a little too bland for me and the fact that you can’t adjust the sugar did not help. ā˜¹ļøĀ The recommended way of drinking it is without stirring it or stirring it 9 times. Stirring it definitely helps a little but still tasted quite bland. I would definitely go back again but maybe try a different flavour. Let me know if you guys have tried the place and what I should try the next time I go there!Ā

Tea Time in between stress

IMG20180904160059.jpg

The opposite of stressed is desserts and Brunetti is a great to do just that! It has a variety of cakes and pastries to choose from that you can always come back to try different types and don’t worry about blowing your money away because these treats are only around $3-8! In this picture, my friend and I had a strawberry cream eclair, a chocolate swiss roll and a cream filled pastry. I definitely recommend the eclair because it is light and sweet and the roll but it is a bit thick so a drink is definitely needed. Maybe not the pastry because it was hard as rock, thought it would be puffy, and the cream had a weird taste to it… I paired these off with an English breakfast tea that can come with milk and it was delicious with the desserts and helps clean the palette to fully appreciate each dish šŸ˜‹.

Let me know if there’s any desserts from Brunetti that I must try or another dessert place I can go to! the more desserts I can get my hands on the better!

Cheese balls and the best thai milk tea šŸ˜Ž

IMG20180828162145.jpg

Usually when I am in the city,Ā  I would pass by a small store called Hot-Star and they sell hot cheese ballsĀ for $4.9! I got told three times that they sold out and finally on the fourth try, I got it! It has a crunchy exterior with gooey cheese inside so I do recommend you try it if you haven’t before! however, if you already tried cheese balls then I won’t suggest this one cause its not something I would want to buy again just cause it didn’t really taste special..? Although I’m still going to go back to the store because they have a famous large fried chicken and it looks like a great snack or a meal. Let me know if you had tried this and whether it is da bomb or not!

BUT for the next item, I recommend that you drink it even if you had other thai milk teas before because this is my go to, my pick me up and the thing that helps me live! It is from Share Tea and it costs around $5. I always get it with normal black pearls but my friends say that the mini pearls are nice to chew on too! I hope this will get you to want to try Sharetea and if not then tell me which milk tea has stolen your heart ā¤

Coffee and Croissants!!!

croisants

Taking a walk with a friend we found the cutest little Bakery on Little Collins street in the CBD! ‘In a Rush’ cafe looked was quite busy when we were there which is usually a sign of a good Cafe, I would say!!

We decided to have a coffee and being a bit of a coffee lover I was extremely happy with the coffee and at $4 it is a very reasonable price.

My friend and I also decided we were a little peckish so we decided to grab a Ham and Cheese Croissant to share. At a price of $7 we did not want to buy one each but we were both full after sharing the croissant anyway! The Croissant was so beautiful and fresh and absolutely toasted to perfection. I can genuinely say nothing negative about it!

I would defiantly recommend ‘In a Rush’ cafe but I would for sure say it is not the cheapest place to grab a bite for eat.

Do you know of any cute cafe’s hidden somewhere in Melbourne?

I know there are plenty around!!

Best chocolate milkshake ever?

IMG20180825204811

Soooo this milkshake here is always in my mind when i want something sweet because it is so rich in flavor that you can tell that they don’t just use some cheap chocolate syrup yuk šŸ˜–!Ā But real chocolate and even with some of the chocolate shavings on the top! This heavenly chocolate milkshake is located inĀ Universal Restaurant in Lygon St, Carlton and it only costs $6, worth it for its size and taste šŸ˜! But that’s not all to this restaurant because it also has HUMONGOUS food portions 😲!!

img20180825204631.jpg

Alright…it may not look big in the picture BUT I promise you this carbonara spaghetti with bacon bits can feed two hungry peeps,Ā since it was more than enough for me and my friend. And its not just the spaghetti that is fit for two but also most of the menu like the popular chicken parma. So I really recommend this place if you like sharing food with your friends, however be sure to arrive early or go on a non-holiday date because the line is long and may take around 10-15 minutes just to take a sit 😲

Let me know if you went to Universal and tried their awesome milkshake and food or if you plan on going! And do tell me if there are any other great milkshakes I can try 😁

ps. I really recommend that you share the food and the chocolate milkshake together to avoid the overstuffed feeling we had after that dinner 🤣🤣

Lobster Time!

IMG_3253 2.jpg

Since winter is coming to an end, I thought I’d do a throwback post. I bet many of you have heard or been to Queen Victoria Market. For those of you who have not and are planning to visit Melbourne in the next winter, this post is definitely for you! Every winter, Queen Victoria Market holds a Winter Night Market event that runs from June 6th till August 29th. The night market has stalls that sell good food, booze, jewellery, art and much more! There is even live music.Ā A couple of weeks ago, I tried the lobster roll and fell in love!! It was so amazingly good. The store is called George the Fish Monger and they sell crab rolls, lobster rolls and more. The lobster roll cost $20 each. It is definitely on the pricey end however, the taste is amazing which makes it worth it I believe. The queue is often long so I would highly suggest you plan your time accordingly. Let me know if you have been to the winter night market and what did you have while you were there!

Procrastinating through food ;)

You ever at uni and starving?

Yeah me too, but as mentioned in the title, it is easier to procrastinate with food!!
Running around at Victoria University in my break I decided to take a quick pit stop at the Reading Room CafĆ©’Ā on the Footscray Park Campus.
There is plenty to choose from, including, pies, sausage rolls and toasted sandwiches but I decided to have a munch on the Cornish Pastie. The Reading Room CafƩ is also known around campus for their coffee!
My Cornish pastie was the perfect snack at uni, bit of meat and a few veggies. On a cold winters day I would defiantly recommend this to Victoria University students as a cheap quick bite at $5.50Ā that is convenient and delicious! I couldn’t complain at all except, for the fact that I ate it too fast and it didn’t give me enough time to procrastinate. Also ate it so quick I forgot to take a photo….. oopps.
Looks like I will have to get more next time!
What University do you attend and what cafe’s do you recommend at the uni?
Anyone else here procrastinate through food?

Watermelon Sorbet

Hi everyone! Today’s post is on…*drumrolls* ice cream! One of the best places in Melbourne for ice-cream has got to be Pidapipó. Pidapipó is known for its’ artisanal gelato and unique flavors. They have stores in 3 locations across VIC; Carlton, Melbourne CBD and Windsor. I have been to the Carlton and CBD location. Both places have really limited seats but there is plenty of space to stand around outside the stores and enjoy your ice cream. The one thing I really love about Pidapipó besides their ice cream, is that they get creative and change some of their flavors when the seasons change. Ā They have fruit based and milk-based ice creams. Some of the flavors I have tried includes banana milk, salted caramel, nutella swirl and even watermelon! The prices differ according to the number of scoops. 1 scoop cost $4.50, 2 scoops cost $6.50 and 3 scoops cost $7.50. You can choose between a cup and a cone too! And for all of you that can’t get enough of Pidapidó (me especially) …..guess what? They even have take-away tubs! The stores close around 11pm which makes it a great place to go for desserts after dinner. Let me know down in the comments below what flavors you would recommend for me to try the next time I go! Till next time, fellow foodies!

Best and ONLY Authentic Pan Mee in Melbourne?😱

Pan Mee!

Hi everyone! I was craving Malaysian food over the weekend and decided to try out a new Malaysian restaurant that opened up in A’Beckett Street, Melbourne. The restaurant is a little different from other Malaysian restaurants as they only serve soups and pan mee which literally translates to flour noodle (Malaysian Chinese Cuisine). The restaurant is called Jojo Little Kitchen and just like its name, it was a small place. Don’t be fooled by the name though, the queue at the restaurant was long and it took half an hour before we got to sit. I ordered their dry traditional pan mee and was in love! It cost $12.90 and was a fairly big portion. The service and ambience of the place is great. The only downfall would be that waiting time was required due to the size of the restaurant, but I would definitely go back! Comment below if you have tried Jojo Little Kitchen and let me know what you think of the place. Till next time guys!
